You can get there by holding down the option key while accessing the "Go" menu in the finder. That Library folder is now hidden in that I can't just be double-click my way into it (at least on my machine) and I imagine some Apps can't see it either. But I presume you're running the session from the "local" files while DropBox is syncing in the background? Because trying to run a session live from cloud-based files seems like a big ask of your Internet connection. I also believe you have to designate whether you want DropBox to retain copies of your files in BOTH the cloud and local folders (a scheme to save room on your local drive).

#DROPBOX FOR MONTEREY UPDATE#

I'll offer some ideas but I'm self taught so take them with a grain of salt.Īs you say, a recent DropBox update has moved the "local" folder to /Users/****/Library/CloudStorage/Dropbox. I hope this makes sense, and thanks for your time. All the videos or walkthroughs about the relink window seem to be extremely basic. I did some searching but couldn't see anyone having similar problems.

#DROPBOX FOR MONTEREY HOW TO#

I notice the relink window has presets, but I'm not sure how to use these, or if they're do to with window sizing rather than a directory.Īpologies if this is a stupid question. I always seem to have to start in my home directory, and navigate through quite a few folders. So I guess that's a second part to the question - is there some way I can quickly navigate to where my PTX is? I would then want to go up a directory and find the required OMF files.

#DROPBOX FOR MONTEREY PRO#

It's always been cumbersome to manually find the folder i'm working in anyway, as pro tools relink window doesn't seem to automatically start you inside the folder with the PTX. It won't allow me to click on it as it sees it as some kind of shortcut or symlink. Pro Tools relink window won't open this folder (see screenshot attached). I imagine Apple want people to use their ~/Library/CloudStorage system which seems to be a new addition (I'm coming from Mojave). However, since upgrading to this M1 machine which uses Monterey, it seems that dropbox is no longer a folder in my home directory, it's now some kind of symlink. I work directly in dropbox, and have done for a while without issue (I love it actually!). This isn't too much of a problem normally. When someone sends me a "separate audio", or "unembedded" OMF, Pro Tools can't automatically find the files, so they need to be relinked.

I import lots of OMFs (sound mixing films made in premiere or similar). I'm often using the file relink window - Tbh I still find it very cumbersome and find it quite difficult to even access once its closed (that's probably a story for another time).
